This is Russian soda like we cook with in Kazakhstan. I have tried to substitute regular baking soda for it in other parts of the world (guess I just cook all over the place!) without any success. Can anyone tell me why this is so? Posted by Hello

I've never tried it, so I can't tell you. I know I used Arm and Hammer baking soda all around the house and in my cooking. I clean w/ it often. I love my arm and hammers :)

where is the weekly recipe?

This used to be hammer and sickle brand. I need to find out what's in it that makes it different. Glad you found the cookies!

I c you've got some nice stuff on your blog :) Keep up the great job. :)

It is always nice to see your home through the foreigner's eye. Guess that was the reason why americans wouldn't stop asking me "how did I like it over here" when I was studying in Louisiana.

Regards, and hope you'll like it over here even more :)

PS. I wonder why this Blogger service does not have a "Friends" feature like LJ for example... at least a primitive one... geee

Anyway, you blog reminded me of the time I spent cooking in US, so here is my old post on how to make a simple stew.

Hi xronofag! I checked out your recipe, pretty interesting! You were right to use the term ragu. As you said it is tastier than sandwiches, I'm sure! I have worked here for The St. George (twice); the Dostyk (Karl Marx and Kurmangazi, twice); I opend the Dickens (on Lenin); I worked for the Rakhat Palace (Hyatt); and I opened and ran the El Paso (below the Lermantov theater); I also worked for the Tex Mex which was part of the Cardinal Bowling complex (on vinogradyeva). Thanks for the visit and the interesting comments!
