Halloween was our best season

Howl as an aching moon
goes groaning low and wide
in the west. Howl as time
passes boundary between happy
and sad. Howl because you don’t
know what else to do.

Growl at slowness of dawning,
longness of frowning,
shortness of the breath of fall,
with its amber haired smile

and days of retreat
in memory’s eclipse.

Whimper recalling once was
in grown up child’s busy.

I like this there is a touch of the naughty child in it, one that still aches to be there

Halloween was the time when I went with the kids. I even dressed up with them. Then the years were that they would go out together and I would stay home. Now they take their own children out and I hope the excitment is there for them and their little ones. It is a great holliday for kids (even big ones) in America. Yes, I miss that wonderful season!

We (my family that is) have copied you guys. Each and every year we dress up and go knock on our neighbours doors.
'Trick or treat?'
If only you chaps across the pond could adopt our bonfire night then we would both end up with two great autumnal events.
Another neat poem by the way.

Bonfire night sounds like a wonderful idea, hope it'll catch on! Hollidays that give families a spot of joy are such a special treat. CJ, glad to hear you and yours have found another happy way to celebrate!
